Artists of Sorauren Park Video Series

To celebrate its 25th anniversary, the Friends of Sorauren Park community group has commissioned a video series – Dogs of Sorauren Park, Trees of Sorauren Park, People of Sorauren Park and, most imporantly, Artists of Sorauren Park.

The park will tell me what should be painted.

Many of you will recognize that Sorauren Park and its abandoned linseed oil factory have been an endless inspiration to me. The park has proved even more essential to my neighbourhood in this year of pandemic.

The series also includes an interview with painter and longtime friend Michael Gerry.

9th Annual Studio Show

May 24th and 25th 2019

Just before the doors opened, we shot this totally cheesy video tour of this year’s studio show, my 9th! It’s at about this moment that I always wonder, will anybody come? Will anybody like the work?

As always, to my amazement people did come and the response to the work was overwhelming. Thank you to everyone who attended and to everyone who texted and emailed encouragement.

Fork Off – Group Show August 2018

Along with Elsa Bluethner, Dianna Bonder, Tammy Hudgeon, Caroline James, Sheila Norgate, Carole Reid, Zena Rogak and Mia Tremblay, our works may be diverse in their choice of mediums but, they are united in our concern for the plight of animals.

IN THE ROUND at Graven Feather

Graven Feather Gallery’s 4th annual IN THE ROUND group show invites artists – 150 of them – to create 6 inch round works. Working round sounded like an intriguing challenge, so I dove in with three imagined landscapes. Hope you can pop in to see them.

Artist talk from the recent Shoe Repair show

After months of planning, focused effort and anticipation, a most wonderful experience unfolded on Gabriola island this May. My solo show of artwork, “Shoe Repair and other consequences of walking”, had a hugely successful two day run at the Keep Calm gallery. A warmer reception to the show could not have been imagined. Guests thronged to the event from as far away as Vancouver. Many new friends were made, and most of the pieces found new homes on the west coast.

Deepest thanks to gallery owner and artist, my dear sister Sheila, for making this show happen.

At Sheila’s invitation, I gave an artist’s talk on the Saturday. About thirty of us were all outdoors on a perfectly gorgeous afternoon. With the birds chirping their encouragement, I spoke publicly about my art practice for the first time. Please click on the links below to see what happened.
